Karen A. Franck is professor and director of the PhD program in urban systems in the College of Architecture and Design at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. She continues to pursue a longtime interest in the design and use of public space. With Quentin Stevens, she coedited Loose Space: Possibility and Diversity in Urban Life (2007). She is currently writing a book with Quentin about public memorials, Spaces of Engagement (2013).
