Robert Sirman

Canada Council for the Arts

Robert Sirman is based in Ottawa as director and CEO of the Canada Council for the Arts. Originally appointed in June of 2006 for a four-year term, Sirman was reappointed in April of 2010 for another four-year term as director. During fifteen years as the administrative director of Canada's National Ballet School in Toronto, he spearheaded a $100-million capital expansion program that tripled the school's physical plant and re-animated the inner-city neighborhood in which the school is located. Sirman has an MA in sociology from the University of Toronto and worked for ten years as director of operations and director of research and policy planning at the Ontario Arts Council.
